Is the accordion Italian?
by admin on Jan.20, 2009, under Uncategorized
I’m doing a work on the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna for Italian class, and reading through a text I read:
“Venture out into the countryside on a Saturday night and you’re bound to hear the strains of a polka or mazurka, played on a local invention: the accordion.”
Since when is the accordion Italian, and from the Emilia-Romangian country-side? According to Wikipedia it originates from Berlin, and a Google search on “emilia-romagna accordion” shows previous mentioned site at #1 and then a lot of websites talking about local Italian accordion players, etcetera. If anyone knows the reason of initaly.com lying so heavily (tourism? Oh please), comment this post or e-mail me.
