New Dark Tower novel!
by admin on Nov.17, 2009, under Uncategorized
From StephenKing.com:
Stephen has announced that he has an idea for a new Dark Tower book, the working title of which will be THE WIND THROUGH THE KEYHOLE. He has not yet started this book and anticipates that it will be a minimum of eight months before he is able to begin writing it.
OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD! I know a sequel after such a brilliant series usually kills it, but I can’t avoid being totally hyped. I have read all the seven novels many times, and they are incredible. Anyone who hasn’t read them – try them out, you will not be disappointed.
The Twilight Zone

I have heard a lot of the original “The Twilight Zone” series, running from 1959 – 1964, and I finally downloaded it entirely (24,1 GB, gah) yesterday and watched the first episode (“Where is Everybody”), and it was great.

Cloverfield
by admin on May.10, 2008, under Film reviews
I just watched the 2008 American horror/sci-fi film Cloverfield, and it was amazing. Really, long time since I last saw such a great film. Basically, it is about a monster attack against Manhattan, filmed with a amateur camera by a couple of friends who happened to witness the whole thing. The film includes the time from a couple hours before the attack started, until Beth and Rob, the last holders of the camera, have a bridge crashing down above them, rocks falling down and then the film stops. The greatest part of the film is probably the work around it, though; the characters have fictional MySpace pages, there are websites for fictional products that featured and so forth. Also check out the IMDb FAQ for the film (AFTER you’ve seen it!).

1408

A few days ago, I read Stephen King’s short story entitled 1408, about a haunted hotel room (room 1408, duh) that is visited by an writer of horror books.
It’s great! The film based upon the short story premiered in the fall of October here in Sweden, and I’m going to see it on cinema some time this week. It seems really great. I recommend the short story to everyone, it is included in King’s short story collection Everything’s Eventual: 14 Dark Tales.
Film Review: Hide and Seek

Horror, USA 2005When David Callaway‘s wife commits suicide, he and his daughter Emily moves from town. As a result of the trauma, Emily creates the imaginary friend Charlie, who by time grows to take over Emily’s life and become more and more dangerous…Really a cool and original film. Boring in some parts, and I don’t like the last few minutes. I like the story and the actors (Robert De Niro and Dakota Fanning as David and Emily), and the psycologic horror involved within it. The soundtrack could have been better.

Film review: Freddy VS. Jason
by admin on Oct.15, 2007, under Film reviews
Splatter horror, USA 2003You could expect such a mix of two film series (Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street) to be of quite poor quality, so I was truly surprised. It’s great. Special effects are acceptable (I’ve never cared too much about special effects what so ever), and acting is, especially by Peter Englund who plays Freddy Krueger, excellent. I’m glad it doesn’t have many splatter scenes – I hate horror movies that totally revolve around the scenes when someone chops another guy’s head off. I especially liked the scene where one of the teen girls falls asleep at the police station and has a dream where little girls tells her about Freddy and sings her the song (one, two, Freddy’s coming for you…).

Saw II

Evelina arrived to the Gurkträff today. Tonight we ate pizza, played some Super Smash Bros. Melee and last but not least watch the horror film Saw II, the sequiel of bestseller Saw.I believe the film was great, but didn’t catch the sequences that the first film did. It was a bit dizzier. The greatest thing about it was that it had much more examples of the serial killer’s way to kill his victims, something I was missing from the first film.
